The artist created this painting, A Glass of Time, now in the Collection of Barbara and Christopher Leu, Santa Fe, NM.

It explores a symbol he had created even longer ago in An American Dream, a small but complex painting of a sunset with a martini glass that was also an hourglass, right next to the Monopoly board with the diving board on Park Place and the Money Tree.

He then took that little central image and used it in various forms in the artwork below.
